I've received an e-mail from one of my subscriptions from a money making site. The message says the best SEO advice that you’ll ever hear is to forget about SEO. According to them SEO is a lazy person’s game. I don’t know much about this but I think they do have a point.

Your statement is a bit vague but I see a huge upside to SEO. The first of which is that it's not that hard and you can do it yourself. The second is that 90% of people out there (numbers from a study, not thin air) don't scroll past the 3rd listing on the SERPs so getting ranked up high is really important. It's also important to realize that SEO encompasses more than just meta tags and keywords, it is everything from social bookmarking campaigns to Wikipedia.

No way....you mean that SEO does't make you traffic to your site? How do you expect to have visitors when you are not listed in the major search engines?
Nowadays everybody uses google, for almost anything and if you want to make your self heard on the internet you definitely want to do some SEO.

I think he does'n have a clue about SEO and he doesn't even want to learn. He's throwing words around the internet about something that he heard over some dudes that don't know a thing either...anyway don't listen to them ..SEO is a  great thing to learn if you want to boost your bussines.

I am a beginner in SEO and still managed to get a site in the first 2 pages with a relevant search, in the first week or so....

It's very important to optimize your website as this is the way that the search engines categorize you.  If someone decides to not optimize their website and then write that he doesn't, just shows how little he knows about SEO and internet marketing in general.

So he can decide that he's not going to optimize -- that's great because if we're in the same niche, it means less competition for me and the higher in the organic rankings I'll get.   Grin

SEO is important and very crucial step of constructing your own web site.
Because if you don't have traffic its a waste and if you want traffic then you must do SEO.
There are also many people doing SEO on demand, so its not as difficult now as it used to be earlier.

I've had experience of this blogger before and used to follow his blog, but he seems to enjoy making controversial posts. I assume he wants to get people talking on his blog and keep people coming back to see what he says next.

SEO is definitely not for lazy people, as it requires a good strategy, planning and work (although you can outsource some of that work). It shouldn't be your only method of getting traffic to your site (ever heard of not putting all your eggs in one basket?) but it is a vital one.

Search engines are becoming "smarter" all the time.  These days, SEO isn't as simple as getting your title, H1 tags, meta tags, and keyword density just right.  There's a lot more to it now, and the search engines can tell when people are purposely trying to take advantage of their system.

I think it really is important to forget about SEO and just write for the people who will be reading your posts or articles.

I think SEO is extremely important - you need to optimize your page for your keywords and get anchored back-links from relevant sites. I think what your money blog meant to say was that you should not dwell on it too much. A lot of the benefits that you want out of SEO usually come with time. So after you have optimized to the best of your ability,  just let your pages and back-links age, and focus on content. Another thing your money making site might be trying to tell you is that search engines like "natural" SEO methods, which usually takes time. To make your back-links look natural, it is suggested that you forget about it.

I've received an e-mail from one of my subscriptions from a money making site. The message says the best SEO advice that you’ll ever hear is to forget about SEO. According to them SEO is a lazy person’s game. I don’t know much about this but I think they do have a point.

There are a number of measurements that can be used when determining how good a keyword might be:
* Search volume (high or low)
* Keyword Effective Indicator(KEI)
* Number of search results for a keyword phrase
* Number of search results that use the phrase in the title
* Whether a competitor uses a particular phrase

Looking at keywords in terms of difficulty is great for having realistic expectation of how soon you might be able to displace other sites ranking well for them, but it won’t tell you if your keyword is a good keyword for you. Same with looking to see if your competitor uses that term. For all you know they haven’t done their research yet.All of the information above is useful within context, but there are really only three things that truly matter.

You want:
# Keywords that target your audience
# Keywords that get traffic
# Keywords that get conversions

You can find and optimize for a lot of keywords that will perform well in one or two of these areas, but the BEST keywords are those satisfy all three requirements. Anything less won’t do.You can target your audience with low traffic keywords - but your conversion rates will be low.You can get traffic that doesn’t convert - but sales rates will be low.You can get conversions by targeting low traffic keywords - but your traffic rates will be low.You can target your audience with poor converting keywords - but your sales will suffer. You can get traffic without targeting your audience - but your conversions will suffer. You can get conversions without targeting your audience - but your traffic will suffer. The best keywords ever are keywords that you have determined to be relevant and have tested to get results. Nothing else really matters.
